Installation > Diplodicus Femur Installation

materials: diplodocus femur, foam, cement, dirt and sand, insect exoskeletons

Located in the University of Pittsburgh Honors apartment complex, this piece was commissioned by Dr. Alec Stuart, late Dean of the Honors College. In 2008, the Wyoming Field Intensive brought an excavated diplodocus femur back to Pittsburgh. Within a museum viewing case, I was tasked to create a naturalistic setting for the bone to mimic the plains environment in which the fossil was discovered.
